There are no special requirements. If you are someone who enjoys classical music and values the SPCO as a cultural treasure in the Twin Cities, would like to form a closer relationship with the orchestra and like-minded music lovers, the Friends of the SPCO is the perfect organization for you!
The Friends operate on a July 1-June 30 fiscal year. Dues should be paid by November 1 of any given fiscal year if you wish to be listed in the Directory, but you may join at anytime.
You may pay online on this website through PayPal or a credit card.
There are some membership-only events, such as Appreciation Luncheons with the musicians and staff of the SPCO. Friends members enjoy a discount at our educational events, such as the Daniel Freeman music lecture series and Conversation with Books. There are many opportunities for getting to know musicians personally. You can also enjoy the satisfaction of assisting the SPCO in some of their educational activities, or meet some of the most talented young musicians in Minnesota during our annual SPCO Youth Chamber Music Competition weekend.
Yes, we do. Our annual Friends-sponsored SPCO concert at the Ordway, Evenings with Musicians, or occasional social gatherings with the musicians following an evening concert are all opportunities to volunteer or to meet other Friends and musicians. There are also weekend volunteer activities, such as Start the Music, or the SPCO Youth Chamber Music Competition. We are always looking for ways to involve members who possess skills in working with the internet, marketing, editing, public relations, or are willing to lend a helping hand.
